Photoshop minor issue

So I'm Pshopping and was messing with slices - something I never do. Ever since I have the icons seen in the upper left hand corner of every image. I know they are related to the slice tool but can't figure out how to deactivate. Pshop 6 if it matters. I know, I know - but it came free with the purchase of a dinosaur

Haven't used slices, but have you tried unchecking View/Extras??  Can also hold down buttons CTRL+H on the keyboard.

That was it. PS defaulted to show slices which was effecting all my layers. That was driving me crazy. Thx
