Member Theme - The challenge
« on: July 11, 2009, 03:39:33 PM »
    Hi All

I am going to try some thing different here - A joint theme created by members - so you guys n gals decide what should be what, from layout to colours, menu etc

I will start the ball rolling by taking two colours from Nerdboys wall paper and a name from DMHolt57

So here is the start so if you know of a good menu post a link and we can see if we can incorporate if you want the colour to play with just use a screen pick from the colour tabs here

    Shortie

    Name - StormFront

    Colours as below

I will throw a basic theme together stick it on a test site and you can throw ideas at it

    so start posting you ideas

should the blue and purple bits be swapped or chage which is which

      Where should the menu be

I think it should have a spot for a logo just like Mayhem . Maybe try a light blue text .

I'd like to propose some things:
          1) Both colors are very dark ... (dificult for eyes)
          2) Just for a change: Make categories and post tables a little smaller at width and height and title lines smaller at height. The distance between category title and description is big. Also make "rounded" corners to every table even on the whole page border and not "squared".

These ideas are only for help your team, not to proof something else (understand?)
          Keep developing ....

P.S. Shortie ... when you have time I appreciate if you see again the MOD with users registration at my site. I find another way but it is not satisfy my requirements. Thanks

Hey dude you are part of the community / team so as much your challenge as any one else :):)

So grab a screen shot put some arrows and comments on it post and we can incorporate - if it takes a while so be it but at the end of the challenge we will have a theme and everyone will be credited to when it is published and should have some fun on the way

So if there is anything you always wanted in a theme but never found then lets try and get it in etc etc

              Shortie

Hey Mr Nerboy how about having a go at the header enclosure and see what you come up with - it is made of three sections a left and right which are fixed in width and height and the middle piece which it just repeated horizontally to fill the space if you get my drift

here is a little template to start

Thank You, "Guest" For Reading My Post.

For the main menu I like the menu style of your site (popup like Mac Style). If it is possible to do, put it at the left side of all page (outside) centered and not movable (fixed) at up-down page scrolling. It would be more accesible ...

For the corners of category table or any corner I suggest these:

Sound good - so lets concentrate on design and define colours later

Dock Icons are good - a little more support as the menu is not dynamically created but no issues here - might be nice if I can get the icons to expand along the center line and not go up or down

Also could do something like this - similar in thought

See more we talk more possibilities come to the table :thumbsup::thumbsup:

About the category titles I think that it would be better to be left centered and without this big graphic background (it makes them big and all these graphics fills the page and if there are many categories with a lot of tables the user allways scrolls the mouse)
I mean that all basic categories and tables is not easily accessible when they are streched out as now

                    --- my opinion

Read my above edits about menu !!
It is more fine like this
See how it looks with categories and all tables rounded ...

Okay been looking into some of this

rounding the category is easy enough but the boards is a little more of a challenge so can't promise on that as the rounded corners will have to be placed only on the last entry which could be an issue

A vertical icon Menu can be done - not very nice at the moment but only spent a small amount of time on it - when I have it looking reasonable I will post a demo

Any one know how to float a css container so that it follows the page when scrolled i.e. does not disappear off the top of the screen when scrolling
