SMF-based Travel Site Logo/Banner

I've started a travel-oriented forum

and, as you can see, could use some help with a logo.

The site's oriented to people who want to write and read about travel and travel destinations.

I like the green, orange and brown.  Not sure about the purple horizontal banner.

I know nothing about graphics and heard a rumor that people here do.

I'd love to see anything you might come up with!

It would be helpful if you stated the size in pixels do you want tropical beach or mountain scenery more information makes for a better logo these things can take up allot of time so we would rather not waste our time making something you do not want .

NB, 600x150 would probably be about right.

I'm kinda thinking of something like a still-life of a tabletop with an open/closed journal/notebook and photos? map? pen? glasses? with passports as opposed to scenery.   

Another alternative I've thought about is a globe/world map theme. ????

Hmmm.  Maybe the reason I'm not good at graphics is that I'm not very creative.
