I agree with DM after you scroll down away there is just an empty space and the thought that comes to mind is what a waste of space . :)

The button works okay for me in Firefox I rarely use IE8. :)

Update - it actually the way IE8 handles the JScript in the portal mod

If you click the little button and the page goes to half view if you just reload the page then all is okay
