Distinct For SMF 2.x RC2
« on: November 09, 2009, 10:09:17 AM »
Distinct

Distinct is a fully Curve compliant Theme incorporating all the new features of SMF 2.x RC2

Features include

5 x Colours - the selection menu can be disabled by administrators and default scheme selected
XHTML Valid
Fluid design
Dual menu - One conventional and one click in - click out sidebar which is fixed for convenience - but can be removed by a simple edit
And the list goes on

So why not try it :D:D

There will be an Ultimate version available

Shortie

Nice Shortie,

Well, now that RC2 is public, how soon do you think GM will be ready to be transferred to RC2?  Are you just waiting on the Downloads System MoD transfer?  If so, let me know.

Cheer :)

Down load system full stop every thing else I can handle

but Still cannot reduce the downtime to less than a couple of hours due to my C%^& connection

So once I am happy and will treat it like a windows SPack I will wait until there have been enough people fixing bugs before I go live

You should note that Public is different for Chartered and there have been some fixes and changes

Most are functionality

And I have only changed three template on this one so should be able to keep up

The biggest bugs are in the upgrade and DB issues hence while we are still sitting behind :D:D

It is neat even if I say so myself

I was getting bored of seeing themes which just change the colours so thought I would set down the gauntlet as they say

It has now been approved by SMF so will see what other think

The ultimate will have a serious amount of colours don't know for sure how many yet but should be cool

No prob

Can you do me a favour as I am guessing at what might be causing it

But I have attached a set of modified CSS files in a zip which I think may do the trick

Is it possible for you to upload them and see if it does the job

If this corrects it and everything else looks okay then I will update the main package

Many thanks

Hi

From your forum root

Themes/Distinct/theme-style/

Just copy them into there

Any issues if you give me a link to the mod then I will look deeper into it but 99.99% sure this will fix it but it is that 0.01% that I need to check :D:D

All updated both here and at SMF

As for the logo the only stipulation I have placed on it is a height of 150px or smaller the width is dependant on your forum - if you have specified a width within the Admin > Current Theme section then you will have to play with the width until you find one which suits etc etc

Hope that makes sense

Awesome theme, and thanks for the update!

Also i have a question... Can you change the colors of the topic when they are "Locked" to something other than the color used for "Stickied" topics???

Here is an Example of what i mean... the cURVE THEME HAS TWO DIFFERENT colors for them.

THANKS A LOT!!!!!!!

Hey Shortie, Yes i encountered the same bug as him where you disable it in "Current Theme" and when you refresh the page the opetion is "Unchecked" again. Its like its not saving it.

Also one more thing the post image verification thing is annoying man, plz disable it, lol!

My forum link is http://www.livedown.us

Used to be a very popular site, but i wasn't able to maintain it for about more than a year. Now its dead and i deleted all the topics and posts and gave it a new start :)

EDIT: Oops i don't know if you had fixed this too, but i just found out that they are using yet another new color to show "Closed Stickied Topics". Here is a sample from the Official SMF Forum.

Another thing that really bothers me is that... There is no way to disable the News that shows on the forum index. And if you Enable a News Fader, Look what happens... A lot of space is wasted because of it. I think what you should do is remove the news space completely and only make the news fader option available through the "Current Theme".

Also move the search to one of these places. The forum will look much cleaner that way and more space for content!

You are probably right

I am just rebuilding my machine so will have a look once I get the software on and fix the Variant issue and look at removing news etc or may change the layout - I agree it takes up space but supposed I am spoint with a few large screens :D:D

So bear with me

Cool u reported it....

K I agree with jagu regarding the search thing it looks really wrong there and takes up unnecessary space if u can shift it up as jagu suggested it would make the theme look more cool..

Just a suggestion..

Nice to hear that Shortie... waiting for the new one...

Another suggestion if u wanna think about this :

Ok if u can remove the outer box it would be cool the outer box makes it too untidy or something like that don't have the exact word to say how it looks.. LOL

Check the image to see what I mean .. ;D

Hope u get my point ..

Always open to ideas

What I am planing is to keep the original and create a second version say Mk2 with all the changes in

I am having an issue with one thing at the moment and that is the admin notifications on how to display it e.g. posts awaiting approval etc

Any way while you are here

Which search do you prefer

This (top)

or This (bottom)

Also the news is still there but if disabled in ACP then it is not displayed

There are so many features here I find one new every day :D  or is that Hour :D

Shortie

P.S. the outer boarder in any easy one - I Think

Shortie

But to change from one to the other is just a CSS edit so no biggy

Okay will see if it can be done - but doesn't leave much space for a slogan if it is enabled i.e. a slogan replace the SMF image

Now this is what I now have so throw the comments in

With everything enabled

Nothing enabled

OMGGGGGG Looks amazing!!!

THanks Shortie, yeah the Search bar position over there is perfect because it won't interrupt with the slogan.

I think You should release that :D

Glad you like it

Must admit I prefer it as it is more compact

If there are no more suggestion over night for me I will package it up tomorrow (UK)

And then complete the Ultimate over the next day or so

Shortie

P.S. Just wish I could get on answer on the disable user variant option though

Any one got a better colour for the text in the gray version not too keen on the light greeny colour

My suggestion would be this blue. Also if you can add the ultimate version with this color theme, it would be awesome! i like blue :)

Shortie the top search box looks like its placed on the frame of the theme and does not add up the one 57 showed looks better that's the reason I selected the selected the bottom one cause even though it looks in side the logo area its not disturbing the frame of the theme...

So in my opinion make the 57 one final its place perfectly and not disturbing the frame..

TBH I like this theme more than the more than the more distinct theme... idk why.... i guess i just dont feel the need to have a compressed forum :P

as to the double border thingy i acutally have a portal mod.. so the double border makes the forum look really pro :P(portal mod meaning i have both left and right navigation bars)

anyways.... THIS THEME IS F'ING SICK!!!! my only complaint is the navigation buttons at the top (home, help, search, etc.)
a. they are not center aligned (they are left, like the default theme, although i prefer centered ;))
b. the font size is to small (i cant read them.. omg.. maybe i need glasses?)

one question i have is, how would i add another color to the selection list?
